You may be recently pregnant or have just had your baby. You expected to feel happy and full of joy but perhaps your experience is much more distressing than you anticipated. It is not uncommon to feel weepy, anxious, have intrusive thoughts, have difficulty bonding with your baby and feel lost during this time. This isn't talked about very often so you may be feeling like you're the only one. You are not. Pregnant and postpartum moms who reach out for help find their symptoms reduce, they feel hopeful again and learn how to navigate this time with a clear plan. I have specialized training in treating perinatal mood and anxiety disorders
Are you struggling to manage anxiety or depression? Are you finding it difficult to balance your work and family life? Is it hard to find fulfillment in your relationships? In individual therapy we work together to identify better ways of coping with your daily stressors.
EMDR is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy. It is a form of therapy that helps you heal from trauma. It has been researched and proven effective for alleviating symptoms related to past trauma.
"After the therapist and client agree that EMDR therapy is a good fit, and begin to work together, the client will be asked to focus on a specific event. Attention will be given to a negative image, belief, and body feeling related to this event, and then to a positive belief that would indicate the issue was resolved. While the client focuses on the upsetting event, the therapist will begin sets of side-to-side eye movements, sounds, or taps. The client will be guided to notice what comes to mind after each set. They may experience shifts in insight or changes in images, feelings, or beliefs regarding the event. The client has full control to stop the therapist at any point, if needed. The sets of eye movements, sounds, or taps are repeated until the event becomes less disturbing."
A typical EMDR therapy session lasts 75 minutes.

Has your marriage or relationship felt like more work and less fun lately? Are you feeling more disconnected than ever before? Perhaps you are new parents and feel like your relationship is taking a back seat to the new baby and you aren't sure how to find your way back to each other. Most relationships experience a decrease in satisfaction as times goes on or with the addition of a baby. You don’t have to settle for this new normal. You can strengthen your relationship and learn better ways of resolving conflicts as they arise.
BBH is an evidenced based workshop developed by relationship experts John and Julie Gottman that helps new parents learn the necessary tools to navigate parenthood together while maintaining a strong relationship. You will learn how to maintain strong love maps, nurture your friendship, resolve conflicts and communicate through the unsolvable conflicts that arise. You will learn how to bond with baby, make sure both partners are involved in duties related to baby and how to get help if you find yourself battling postpartum depression or anxiety. This workshop can be offered in it's entirety or components can be offered through private couple's sessions. I am a trained Bringing Baby Home educator through the Gottman Institute.
